No yuan certainty, says Jiang

scmp.com

President Jiang Zemin has said he cannot "100 per cent" rule out a devaluation of the yuan, the Tokyo Shimbun said yesterday.

"China has paid a great price and carried a lot of risk in deciding to keep the yuan stable," Mr Jiang told former Japanese prime minister Toshiki Kaifu and the chairman of Tokyo Shimbun. "Until now there has been no change in policy," he said, before noting "this situation cannot last forever".

"Nothing in this world is 100 per cent certain." >>
