To the EdHeads - Just a thought...

We're all aware of the success of the iMac and the potential available to the manufacturer who can first deliver a USB removable. At the moment, it appears that the SparQ will not be the first USB drive to reach retail shelves. In order to take advantage of this iMac opportunity, perhaps something like the following idea would be worth considering:

Why not immediately advertise a USB SparQ promotion that offers an incentive to anyone willing to purchase the drive now. A reasonable downpayment would be requested with the balance to be invoiced at time of shipment.

Customers would be guaranteed that they would receive the first USB SparQs that SyQuest produced. They would ship direct from SyQuest to the customer.

Possible incentives could include a free disk, a transparent carrying case, iMac/SparQ logo products, a rebate, 100 shares of stock <g>, or whatever.

Potential benefits:

1) SyQuest could lock in customers now before they're tempted to buy the first product that reaches retail.

2) There would be an immediate inflow of badly needed cash.

3) By bypassing the middlemen and their cut, SyQuest might be able to finance the entire promotion with the resulting additional gross margin dollars.

Just a thought...

Regards - Dale
