Hi Gregor.
I know this is going to cause a problem but I just want to share some verses with you that reveal God as warm and close in the OT.

1 Exodus 24:9-11
9 Moses and Aaron , Nadab and Abihu, and the seventy elders of Israel went up and
10 saw the God of Israel. Under His feet was something like a pavement made of sapphire, clear as the sky itself.
11 But God did not raise His hand against these leaders of the Israelites; they saw God and they ate and drank.

1 Kings 8:25
You have kept your promise to your servant David my father the promises you made to him when you said; You shall never fail to have a man sit before me on the throne of Israel,

Exodus 33:34
7: And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.
18: And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.
19: And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.
20: And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.
21: And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:
22: And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:
23: And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.

In all fairness the God of the OT was Jesus. He is the same yesterday, today and tommorrow. Look at Ananius and Sapphira they approached God in an unworthy manner and he was the same as before. I believe they had eternal life but the consequences in this life are up to God like He said to Moses He will have compassion on whom He will have compassion and mercy on whom He will have mercy. In Dueteronomy he tells the Israelites if they have trouble getting to the feast to sit by the road and relax with Him. Wither we sit stand lie or fall face first it is just being in His presence that counts. I agree with Moses when he says if your presence does not go with us do not send us from this place.
Love in Yeshua,
Nancy
