Damage control will be at a maximum over the next couple of days and weeks as gurus seek to soothe investor fears and confusion. That is their mission in uncertain times. Popular media helps to calm sentiment by presenting the face of the retail investor as one that is holding long. Anecdotes about Buffett and whimsy about how holding stocks long will always generate sizable gains, based on historical data. Today, the speculative excess was still apparent in the market as bidders wafted AMZN up and down within a trading range of 15 points. Froth is still churning and will be entrenched until a bear market finally takes hold. Expect more reiterations from Abby and Acampora, in their respective, divergent camps.
