It is a weak market, yes. Looks like the Asian markets didn't really like second-half of the day sell-off in the US. Not much in the way of bullish news out there. A feeling of melancholy is taking over investors. The bloom is off the rally, which really didn't do much in the way of repairing even most of the Monday thud. 512 down, 288 up, now 34 down. So, do the math. downright depressing.
I think people are more than a little afraid of the Starr report, which will hit Congress some time this month. Some say it could be sent to Congress as early as mid-month.
Today Clinton told the Russians a lie, or at least misled them. He said (I don't remember the exact wording) that he admitted his mistake, asked for forgiveness, doesn't have anything more to say about it, and expects that people will get on with their life as he is getting on with his life.
Now he may have asked somebody for forgiveness, but he did not even apologize to the general public, or say he was sorry for his public lying, much less "ask for forgiveness".
The guy just doesn't get it. He's lost credibility, but doesn't feel like he has to put forth any effort to get it back, if that's even possible at this point.
Considering that Clinton "did legally tell the truth" to the Jones court, it's interesting that Judge Susanne Webber Wright is considering "sanctioning" Clinton for "misleading" her court in his Jones deposition.
Also, I wonder what Clinton will say when/if the Starr report shows evidence of up to twenty felony counts, as one news columnist has suggested? Are the American people really in any mood for that, particularly if more lurid details are leaked of Monica's testimony regarding Clinton's bizzare sexual pecadillos?
Inquiring minds want to know. -g- |
