Dr. Seuss,
The internet has leveled the playing field of stock information. In the past our mailboxes were stuffed with free hype newsletters promoting the next MSFT, IBM, T, etc. Paid newsletters don't have a record that is much better than the free ones. All stocks are manipulated, no question about it but now the small investor or the large investor has a voice and a place to share their research. I tried to get a list of people the SEC has banned from the securities but wasn't able to get it. If I have a suspect name I can check it but no master list is available. We are coming under attack from the company shills who have had the information business tilted in their favor for years. Its about money. If you follow the feature stocks in Investors Business Daily for any time period you will find most of the stocks collapse. Pump and dump has competition from research driven investors here on the internet. It's a new market with better informed players. If you had dilligence that a stock was a scam you could share it with a few people, now you can share it with the world for about $20 a month ISP fee's. We have a responsibility to each other to be accurate even though the shills don't seem to follow any rules. Personal attacks take away from the work we do but its another sign of fraudulent promotion. Anominity on the net is frequently sited as a minus but I think its a plus.
Sincerely,
Albert_DeSalvo@Boston_Airways.com
