I imagine you in your garden Stitch. It is night. The glow of your computer screen is the only light in evidence out there in the dark. The plants have been all watered. Your dog is at your feet. You have just finished a great Chinese/Malayan meal. You are watching the world sink away on the internet.

You are in the middle of changin times.

The grand boat of state is slowing down in the middle of the Straits of Malacca and the crew is throwing the furniture into the boilers to keep up speed and not drown. Everything else combustible including the buker fuel has already been consumed.

Let me give you some good advice. Tomorrow get out your Somerset Maughm and read up about the 1920's out there. All those faithless wives, those lonely planters, the grand derelicts. What would Mahathir be in 1920? Where would he have worked? Some upcountry rubber clinic probably.

You are living in the vortex of interesting times my boy. Something you will nevder actually witness again. Write it all down. OK?
