Fairy Tales ...
There once was a little girl in England who wanted with all her heart, to study Ballet at the famous ballet school in France and become a world renowned Ballerina. Unfortunatly, this little girl was very poor. Even if should could get to France, there was no money for the famous, expensive ballet school. But she was determined and soon found a job. She worked very hard and saved every penny she earned. It wasn't enough. Soon she was working at two jobs saving everything. Every week she counted her savings and the pitiful amount slowly grew. Finally, after years of hard work and saving, she had enough for the entrance fee.
She stood overlooking the chanel seperating her from France and her dream. Tears streamed down her thin worn face. A pigeon flew by and landed beside her. "Little girl, why are you crying?" asked the pigeon.
" I have enough money for the ballet school but I have no means to get across the English Chanel to France." replied the broken hearted child. "Your hard work will not go unrewarded," promised the pigeon, "Come back tomorrow at the same time." The pigeon flew away and the little girl wondered if she had been dreaming. However, the next day at exactly the same time, the little girl was at the shore. The water looked vast and endless and her plight hopeless. As the mist off the shore began to clear, she saw a little boat. Her heart fluttered and she walked toward it. There was her pigeon. "Get in," commanded the pigeon. With joy , the little girl climbed in. The pigeon bravely took the rope in its beak and began to beat its wings with all its might. Nothing happened. The bird saw the striken look in the child's face and tried even harder. The small bird simply was not strong enough. Suddenly the air was alive with the sounds of beating wings as one hundred pigeons appeared and all took up the rope. Miraculously, the boat began to move across the waves, out into the ocean. The little girl's joy and hope knew no bounds as the faithful birds pulled her towards her dream. Now, the farther they went, the rougher the water became. Soon the little boat filled with water but the pigeons kept pulling. The waves grew larger and larger, the sky darker and darker. Finally, the largest wave of them all appeared like a black wall and dropped over the little boat. The little girl was flung into the cruel ocean and was drowned. We now know, You can never be a ballerina if you are pigeon towed. |
