If you think I'm wrong, I'd assume it's because ATHM's price
bounces around depending on the market, and the market is volatile
lately due to all the volatility in the world's economic scene.

If that is your argument, then TokyoMex should be posting these
updates on EVERY discussion group on SI (by your logic).
There are SI groups that SPECIFICALLY discuss these
overseas events, those types of posts and discussions are
more appropriate there. I've got nothing against TokyoMex, and
enjoy threads dealing with these broader issues, just want to
keep ATHM's thread to the topic of "ATHM". A few of these
'broader' SI threads are:

exchange2000.com
exchange2000.com
from the "Market Trends and Strategies" group of discussion threads.

and...

exchange2000.com
exchange2000.com
exchange2000.com
from "International" group of threads.

ATHM is actually very insulated from overseas economic troubles,
compared to many stocks. ATHM primarily serves North America,
and demand for fast internet access is unlikely to change
even if the ruble crashes, Japan continues to ignore reality, etc.

Wall Street hates uncertainty (ie, lack of knowledge as to what
earnings will be, or when a company will turn profitable) and
they especially hate uncertainty in these wild times, so ATHM
pays the price and gets hammered. These are second-order effects
of fear, and not related AT ALL to the future prospects of ATHM.

So, why not discuss those prospects here, and leave the "world
economy" talks to threads specifically meant to discuss them?
