They have indeed, Randy. One of the reasons we are all hoping they can acquire some of the footwork from others.

And I recall a post I read on a Motley storage message board a year and a half ago by a fellow claiming to be a corporate storage buyer. He mentioned Ampex's " intriguing double density tapes" , and then said he had not even known they were still " in business". Likewise Petco searched for a year before they stumbled upon AXC ( or vice versa). As Gus once said - paraphrasing - hard to say how many storage tires they kicked before they came upon AXC.
If (and after 3.5 years I am still not quite sure - beyond DST and general digital to analogue and back again expertise - what it might be ) AXC does in fact have proprietary technology to offer the rapidly sprouting digital world, their most important sales job is to prospective allies ( acquisitions). They have to be able to convincingly say , " these are the reasons we have a bright future together." The most important kind of insider buying, would be an acquired company or companies buying into that vision. That reduces the price. MicroNet certainly seemed to ( despite our worries that the precipitous AXC decline after the deal would derail things).
Two acquisition approaches would most likely have an impact on near term share price. Revenues and growth are there for the buying if they find the right ally. That approach would comfort me most rapidly. Market panache is the other. But it changes so quickly. Easy to overpay. They may be in a position to acquire both.( I would not think that a web hosting startup of their own would be completely out of the question). In the very long term, of course, only one thing makes stock prices perform well. Growth.
We may be nearing the point where AXC will be forced into a reverse split. Hope the stock can rise smartly on positive news before that day comes.
OFF SUBJECT ( Personally I am holding back on buying ATEC, David, until I can find out if there were any extraordinary items that contributed to the amazing quarter they just registered. I doubt that there were. Chances of AXC buying them are probably one in a million, but the one thing that they sure could offer beyond value and growth is a 32 person sales force, and a group of systems integrators, that know market and customer needs nowadays VERY well. They are just now starting to add telecommunications and multimedia to their business ( so they would probably salivate at an AXC offer - to ally with such a name). The cheaper the stock gets now, to me, the better. Appears to be an exceptional value. The ones Jubimer mentioned are also sure worth a long term look. Likewise, in 2 cases, fine growth coupled with very low price to sales ratios. )
