Carl - Re: "Great post! We are all very thankful to you..."

You're quite welcome.

Today, your wife is one more step removed from the checkout counters of the world (unless she's "shopping").

Re: MSDW - Morgan Stanley Dean Witter.

Mark Edlestone, the Semiconductor analyst, joined Morgan Stanley - the investment bank arm - Dean Witter is the commercial brokerage house. They merged about 21 months ago.

Edelstone himself has a "checkered" past. Early last year (1997), when he was at Prudential, he was pumping AMD, predicting major success for AMD at Intel's expense.

He predicted $4.00 EPS for AMD in 1998 - AFTER AMD announced their yield problems in September 1997 (he had joined MSDW by that time).

I haven't seen Edelstone's new estimates on AMD but I have "a feeling" that he has lowered them somewhat from the +$4.00 per share to a more "modest" number (with a negative sign in front of it !).
