Bosco, Sam... The most ironic thing about the whole hedge fund margin call massacare of '98 is that the Russian Gov. did in 1 day what the Japanese, Malaysian, Chinese, Taiwanese and of course the HK Govs. have tried to do for over a year now.... thwart the big boys. And the funniest thing is that it didn't cost Russia one "Red" cent! Heh, heh.
What did the LT Capital expect when Russia began issuing 1-week paper with 200% coupons (annualized) last month? Right there was the signal to cut losses short.

Update: As exepected, Taiwan has hopped on HK's bandwagon and
has implemented restrictions on trading. But as we speak, Taiwan MoF
officials are flying to Malaysia to meet with captain crony.
I wonder what the result will be.
