Most Nortel and Bay shareholders are happy with the merger and the street is beginning to warm to the merger. A guy by the name of Ellis was on Stock Talk on CNBC this morning. His No. 1 recommendation was Nortel. A lady called in and asked about Lucent. He said that one thing he would not do was buy a stock at 40 times earnings with a growth rate of 20% and, for that reason, he much preferred Nortel to Lucent. Nortel is projected to grow at about the same rate as LU and CSCO and has a much lower PE which makes it a very attractive buy.
