Zebraspot: re Goodboy I* G*,

I assume Goodboye is talking about the upcoming Leonid meteor showers. (Due to max in Nov.) The fact is space is still very empty. Increasing the numbers of meteorites does not change the fact that they are still very small objects. The angles and trajectories required to hit a satellite and cause damage make the likelihood of an event remote. Not impossible but remote. If more than two satellites in earth orbit are effected I would be surprised.

Goodboy goes on to berate I* because with 66 sats up (working) it is in greater risk than G*, which he incorrectly states does not have any birds in orbit. He then continues to comment that the insurance rates will be impacted because the sat will prove to be less reliable. More susceptible to acts of God maybe but not any less reliable.

I wont go into the other points he tries to make. His post does not show any basis for me to consider him to be classified as 'informed'.
