On the server end, it remains to be seen. However, the server side is a relatively easy iimplementation, so everyone's should be more-or-less equal.

The client end is a different matter. It is the smart side of the connection. Lucent is a small player here, and is probably okay. Rockwell is a supplier to most of 3Coms client modem competitors (Hayes, Zoom, Diamond, Boca). I think they have a poor V.90 implementation, and will play catch up for a long time.

Only of the public becomes aware of the superiority of the 3Com implementation. How many "average" people do you know that read Boardwatch? We need all of the PC rags to do real world testing of the various V.90 clients and publish the results.

>>Or did we give away the townsend technology to facilitate v.90???

Short answer? Yes. But Rockwell would have stonewalled the standard forever if 3Com had not taken the high road.
