I just got this in my e-mail, checked yahoo and it wasn't there. Otherwise I would have left a link. Rather impressive is the fact that this is considered to be the largest packaged SCM solution in existence.
>>Toshiba Semiconductor to Realize Dramatic Productivity Improvements With World's Largest Supply Chain Planning Implementation; I2's Rhythm(R) Solution Provides Supply Chain Visibility for Global Operations
IRVING, Texas, Sept. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- i2 Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: ITWO), the leading developer of supply chain management and decision support solutions, announced today that Toshiba's operation in Tokyo, Japan has successfully implemented i2's RHYTHM solution to manage the company's domestic semiconductor planning. The live system is considered by analysts to be the largest packaged supply chain planning solution in existence.
Prior to implementing the RHYTHM solution from i2 Technologies, the semiconductor giant was experiencing long and complex planning cycle times. A lack of integration between demand and production data resulted in a disconnect between sales and production planning, affecting the company's productivity and its ability to respond quickly to customer orders. After implementing the RHYTHM supply chain planning solution, the semiconductor division has improved its productivity and its ability to meet customer orders on time.
"We are very pleased at the phenomenal success of the implementation at Toshiba's Semiconductor division, said Sanjiv Sidhu, CEO of i2 Technologies. We look forward to a continuing partnership with the company."
Daily Allocated Available-to-Promise Planning
Toshiba's Semiconductor division takes in thousands of orders each day from around the globe. Using i2's RHYTHM Supply Chain Planning software, Toshiba's planners are now able to give an accurate response each day to each order, mapping the item, quantity and request date against the priority-driven allocated available-to-promise data provided by the RHYTHM system. The result is accurate and timely delivery to the huge volume of customer orders. The RHYTHM system also manages demand aggregation and prioritization and supply/demand netting.
Enterprise-wide Supply Chain Visibility
Since implementing RHYTHM and related organizational changes, Toshiba has reduced its planning cycle time approximately 66%. The key reason for this improvement is the system's ability to centralize allocation planning, giving the headquarter planner visibility into each plant's capacity. With this ability to view capacity, production, demand and delivery information across the entire semiconductor operation, the company has realized faster and more accurate responses to customer orders and anticipates productivity improvements.
"We are very excited about the success we have already seen as a result of this project," said Mr. Hiroyuki Terado, Senior Manager, Strategic Planning dept., Electronic devices sales & marketing group, Toshiba Corporation. "i2 understands the philosophy of a semiconductor manufacturer and the expertise of the i2 Technologies' global team has been crucial to the success of the implementation," said Mr. Terado.
