Well, I wish today that were true. Big Jake (3) was pretty much unhappy all morning according to his teacher. He is exhausted and is currently sacked out on Mommy and Daddy's bed.

He's only at the school for 3 hours a day. We thought it would be a good way for him to meet some friends. It's a Montessori school and our other kid was there for 2 years before he entered PUBLIC school for the 1st grade. He had a great teacher. Has another one this year. Regardless, this is going to be a tough week.

Thean, I understand your perspective on public schools and home schooling. I taught in a public high school for 18 years, private for 3. A wonderful experience...but unfortunately the public schools are on their way to a self made disaster. That's one of the main reasons I left the profession in June. Teachers and administrators will NOT change and remain stuck in what is comfortable. I could write a book here but I'll spare you. If you really do plan to go into teaching, do it because you love kids. Do it for NO other reason. It is one of the most difficult jobs on the planet. I have seen a classroom of nice, little kids chew up new teachers and spit them out more times than I can remember. The stress can be incredible. Yes, you must know your subject...but you have to care more. Good luck with whatever your family chooses...home schooling or teaching.

If anyone is interested I'll send you (via private mail) my final letter to my school detailing what I see is wrong. I've also written some articles that have been published in the newspaper about staying home and taking care of kids. Let me know.

Now, can someone tell me what happened to Merck today? Looks like some short covering in Nike.
