Hank, think of the fear in Congress right now, at least on one side of the aisle (the other side just smells fear). Terrorists blowing up embassies, nuclear tests in south Asia, Iraq testing UN/US resolve and finding none (did you see the WSJ column today by ex-weapons inspector Scott Ritter?), Russia in turmoil, North Korea shooting missiles over Japan, but most importantly (the complete line was "it's the economy, stupid"), the stock market is forecasting a recession. Both sides of the aisle, rightly or wrongly (would that be leftly?), will blame Bill. Focusing on his obvious character flaws now and distancing themselves from him is the obvious choice for members of both parties seeking reelection.
