I agree 100% on the taxation of churches. Wasn't there something about rendering unto Caesar, and all that stuff? One of the great disasters of American public life is that the eminent logic of conservatism is so inextricably linked to the grotesque illogic of fundamentalist Christianity. It's always been a Republican dilemma. They want the support of the zealots, but the moment they let the zealots into the platform the American people - who, thank God, know better - dump them and run to the other side. We lose some good ideas that way. Steve
