Satish, here is an excerpt from an article that
appeared in the newsgroup clari.world.asia.india
today.

NEW DELHI, India (AP) -- Computer engineer K. Sambasiva Reddy
gave up his job and paid his life savings of 350,000 rupees (about
$8,300) to register with a company promising him specialized
training, a visa and a job in the United States.
Neither a visa nor a job materialized. A year later, Reddy
poured gasoline on himself and tried to burn himself to death in
despair at being cheated. He survived, and his evidence later led
to the arrest of the company's owner.
