Mr. David Jenkins reports
Black Hawk has received drill hole results from an exploration program at its El Limon operation, consisting of open pit mines and an underground mine, in Northwestern Nicaragua, Central America.
Two new epithermal, gold-bearing, quartz veins were discovered by underground drilling designed to test the footwall area of the Limon mine's Talavera underground operation. Since commencement of the program in May 1998, approximately 2,335 metres of diamond drilling in 16 holes have been completed towards evaluating these discoveries. The two gold-bearing structures have been designated Talavera Sur and FWII. Geological continuity in Talavera Sur is demonstrated by intersections in 16 underground drill holes, four of which also intersect FWII.
The location of Talavera Sur is less than 100 metres south of the Limon mine's Talavera underground operation. Its orientation is sub-parallel to the mine workings which will allow for relatively inexpensive development and utilization of the existing mine infrastructure and access. Preliminary interpretations of the strike length suggest a one kilometre long structure that contains zones of variable gold grades. High grade gold intercepts in nine of the holes intersecting Talavera Sur form a coherent and continuous 100 metre long zone between sections 11150E and 11250E and over a vertical height of 125 metres from the 135 level down to the 260 level. The high grade zone averages 3.9 metres true width and carries a weighted average grade of 16.9 g/t gold and 17.28 g/t silver. Interpretations suggest that this high grade zone may be projected 200 metres to the northeast to connect with the Talavera Este Footwall zone where similar high grade reserves are already being mined. The high grade portion of Talavera Sur is also open to depth below the 250 mine level. To the west, from section 11150E to 10975E, four drill holes encountered the Talavera Sur structure but with generally low gold values. West of section 10975E, re-interpretation of three other drill hole intercepts demonstrate the continuation of Talavera Sur for at least another 350 metres. These three drill hole intercepts contain 5.22 g/t gold over 2.52 metres, 5.18 g/t gold over 2.75 metres, and 19.85 g/t gold over 1.4 metres of core length.
Limited drilling of the FWII vein demonstrates its presence over a 200 metre strike length, parallel to and 35 to 55 metres south of Talavera Sur.
Drill results for the 16 holes completed on these discoveries to date are summarized in the following table. No cutting has been applied to the gold assays at this time, though a few high assays may require cutting for resource estimation.

The company's routine check assay and quality control program provides confirmation of the mine laboratory assay results reported above. ACME Analytical Laboratories of Vancouver, an external and independent Canadian laboratory, is used by the company for check assaying. Core recovery of mineralized intersections is generally very good averaging above 90 per cent. A resource estimate will be made once additional in-fill and extension drilling are completed. This requires the preparation of strategically placed, underground stations that will permit drilling at right angles to the strike and dip of the new veins at the deeper mine levels. The recalculated resource will be disclosed in the normal year end resource calculation.
Other drill programs within the Limon mining concession are actively detailing known resources for conversion to mineable reserves and testing selected exploration targets.
