Japan's Fujitsu Ltd. said Friday it is closing its semiconductor plant in
northeast England, the latest in a series of plant closures by chip makers
world-wide.

The closure, affecting some 600 workers, is the second in little more than a
month to hit the U.K. In late July, Siemens AG said it would close its
1,100-employee chip plant in Tyneside.[snip]
