Searle, a very intelligent approach, in US Patent 5,713,364 I am using essentially the same approach to determine the presence or lack thereof of various pathologies. Of course, your "teaching set" needs to include as many of the "environmental" variables (call them economic conditions, international situations, other currencies and commodities etc.) as possible, and the teaching model will have some "drift" as well because gold's (and any other commodity) as a "percentage" of economic activity is on a constant decline (thus the "drift"). The turnips have been aiming at 156 yen/dollar and about $250 for gold, but the time frame still has few more months to go, maybe to the end of the year.
