<Had the price point for PCs stayed at $2,000, Intel would probably be making in excess of 2 billion profit per quarter. The sub-$1000 PC has taken it's toll on Intel>

Is it not possible that the price would have stayed at $2,000, had their not been a Japanese recession, Asian crisis and general semiconductor slowdown?
