My wife, who is a die-hard Republican, expressed surprise that Clinton was apologizing again.

Bless you, you at least had the sense to marry well. But perhaps you could ask your wife when Clinton apologized the first time. "I regret it" doesn't mean the same thing as "I'm sorry". Neither do "I alone am responsible" and "I take full responsibility" (duh..who else was the perpetrator of the lie? not much choice in taking responsibility.)

I find it interesting that Clinton had to go to Ireland to apologise. He didn't have the cajones to apologise directly to the people who he misled.
