Clay and company,

Isn't it telling that now the price target (at least as stated by Prudential) is $60.
And that is $2 down from the target of $62 offered two weeks prior to another brokerage target - a wonderful target of $83. The target that made me near giddy until two days hence when the stock began its decent into the low 50s and beyond.
It always makes me suspect (I am cynical beyond all reason after all) when a stock is touted only to fall on its face days afterward. In retrospect it looks like a setup. But this is a reputable stock and reputable institutions and/or brokerages don't do that, right?

Yea the market blitzed Cost along with every other public company, but not at the first sign of a down turn in COST. Is it just a coincidence - the timing of the $83 target price and the subsequent rumor? I didn't catch the date on the latter. Hmmm, get everyone buying like a fool on the prospect of a 30 point rise, and sell into that buying spree to take your own profits. Then, scare everyone into selling you back those shares. Brilliant! The stuff of novels and Hollywood movies I think. What an imagination huh!

Anyway, talk about the steam roller of life. This constant sea change in the outlook and perspective for Costco is making me manic! Up one day about the prospects of getting back on track and then down the next because the track seems shorter than was thought. I suppose the good news is that they believe growth will be sustained at 15% long term. Don't get me wrong I am still happy we are back on track but, its a shame that its only a part of the loaf we started out with. I want the other $15 dollars!!!

So why all of the sudden are we looking at a slow down.
What's changed?
