Is it moronic for a CEO to take care of his company's long-term interest and ignore short-term stock fluctuation? TLAB CEO probably is already a multi-billionaire, recent 50% haircut costs him billions but he's probably still a billionaire. Ask yourself if he cares about money and then ask yourself if he cares about daily or weekly stock price change like the rest of us.

Loss of market cap doesn't make him a loser, but he'll feel really bad if 5 years down the road, TLAB gets beaten to the ground by CSCO,ASND,LU,NT,ALA,...

I'm almost sure we'll get a new CEO if the deal is dead. Either because Birck is lack of judgement or because the shareholders don't share his vision.
