I think this is very good news also. Thank you for validating my feelings! Having been married to a corporate litigator, I know that the most desirable, cheapest outcome to a suit is often settlement and that frequently a case is settled literally on the eve of a trial--when someone finally blinks. The numbers do not seem that large, certainly not too great a price for the company to pay to put this behind them. The plaintiffs had to be seeing some of their case evaporating. And, as you write (and as we saw in OJ), juries are not always rational.
