Gersh: Shorts have borrowed stock to short .. the owners of the stock figure out, to late, to sell. When they sell the short has to cover .. bounce .. until more longs can be found to borrow from.

I have never shorted until this year. It was just a practice I decided not to participate in. However, with the clear market signals pointing down, I just could not resist. I am only day trading at this juncture and do not hold over night! A complete reversal from my previous investment strategy!

Having said that, I don't understand your statement. Are you saying, that if the owner of the shares you have borrowed for shorting, decides to sell you are automatically forced to close your short position?

I have not experienced this and have never heard it referenced before!
