Gooch the Microlight 1000 is a demonstration unit to prove and test the technology. Its not a product ready to go out the door. Its a test of concept. Since everyone's negatives list is out, its time for us to look in detail at the positives only list. If I forgot any, please add them to mine:

[1] JMAR Profitable for the last 3 years

[2] JMAR has weathered Asian crisis with increasing sales and positive earnings unlike many similar companies.

[3] JMAR just received a $13 million DARPA contract to further develop both x-ray lithography and their brightlight technology. (Huge boost of confidence by government).

[4] Excellent and improving balance sheet.

[5] One bank increased JMAR's credit line to $6 million at prime rate.(Shows confidence)

[6] Brightlight first order by yearend (in annual report)

[7] Major JSI contracts due very shortly (info from annual meeting). JSI expected to contribute positively to the bottom line during the second half of 1998 (annual report).

[8] JMAR a major supplier of MR head and hard drive inspection systems to major manufacturers, including the leader IBM. Sales continue despite Asian flu, as IBM's MR head business is booming.

[9] Demonstration x-ray semiconductor lithography station will be completed in 1999 (finally!) See annual report.

[10] JMAR commands close to 20% of the $110 million niche that it currently operates in. Products based on Brightlight may expand the total potential market niche to up to a 3 billion potential market. (market pulse article).

[11] JMAR has a $25 million tax loss carryforward to apply to future revenues.

Here is a section on Brightlight from the annual report:

Based on the enthusiasm expressed for Brightlight(tm) by potential customers, JMAR established a separate Brightlight(tm) product engineering project in its Precision Systems division at the end of 1997 and expects to receive initial orders for early versions of these products before the end of 1998.

Here is another section:

Our Brightlight(tm) program moved into final development toward the end of 1997, and in early 1998 began to transition into product engineering with the objective of entering the commercial ultra-precision manufacturing marketplace later in the year.
