GM,
Did you notice that there were no adds in Fry's for the Zip drives other than the built in zip of Fujutsu. I am seeing less and less adds for Zip drives in other retailers too in the San Jose Mercury news. This is really surprising considering that this is back to school buying season. I am seeing adds for Zip disks though. Does this mean that the retail zip drive market is still slowing down while the zip disk market is healthy? or does this indicate IOM's less focus on the retail market? I was expecting to see more adds for zip drives after the recent price cuts. Same case with Jaz. It is really really difficult to see an add for Jaz. I wonder if retailers see no value in advertising/carrying the whole Jaz product line. Any explanations from others? My feeling is that the CD-R/CD-RW have effectively killed Jaz/SparQ and have slowed down the Zip market too. Only the mutimedia houses who need to have more capacity like 1G/2G are buying Jaz/SparQ. So, even with the highly anticipated death of SYQT, IOM's problems may not be over soon. But still i feel that IOM should be able to make some profit with so much of installed base and by cutting costs!!

Thanks
-senthil
