Have you heard of General Joffe, or the "Trials of the Jewish Doctors". Stalin was deeply antisemitic (a curse that Lenin could not forgive him) and got rid of most of the Jewish Intelligenzia within the communist party long before WWII started, Jews had no influence in 1949. They even castigated their best physicist, Landau, because he professed that quantum mechanics might indeed be a good presentation of what happens on a microscopic scale to matter (Just as Hitler delayed the development of their atomic weapons, because it involved recognition of the Einsteinian principle that matter could convert to huge amounts of energy, only after Heisenberg, a deeply antisemitic physicist pressed the matter he finally got it going).
