Seems clear that it's unclear that Ciena will hold the lead. I've read about tests from Nortel using 100 lightwaves and there's a little company called Harmonic Lightwaves (HLIT) which has a DWDM (working and installed) for Hybrid Fiber Coax HFC systems being installed by Cable TV companies.

Everyone starts shaking when Lucent says they will muscle in. Whatever happens, DWDM is not a one company solution.

No matter what happens, it seems like bandwidth will be widely available in the future. That will bode well for us all.

There also seem to be developments in wireless transmission which are very exciting. If they'd (FCC) take the controls off what is suppose to be a free society, we'd probably see wireless modems selling 50 MBPS 2 way digital in less than a year. It would be cheap and easy to install. But, it would step on too many toes.

Regards,

Mark
