Just read that Hitachi Ltd from Japan will report a loss for the year for about $1.83 billion, business is really bad over there. In addition, the Pres. of the company said that their problem is a real crisis. I would bet that Arthur Ritchie is trying to team up with another mainframe player just in case Hitachi starts to stumble with it's sales efforts worldwide. Would like to ask Arthur on the next conference call if this news from Japan causes him any concern. After all, the mainframe sales are very big in terms of $. But then again, maybe that's why he has pushed so hard to get this NT version and the Windows version out on the market, because that's where the real big $'s are at. Well anyway, earnings release should be soon and I'll bet there's an upside surprise !!!!
