I think there were a few more Jews there too that got clean away from the trouble and weren't lucky enough to be martyrs. In the deep south those guy you mentioned weren't a joke at all or else they would not have disappeared.

So what are they? Martyrs to civil rights or man's pathetic attempt to form a middle ground in the face of his greater vector to eternally mistrust the other race?

Eventually mistrust or not you have to let people be free or you become a parody of a freeman yourself.

I didn't make the situation in New York or Alabama or the attitudes I know exist, that I reflected. I just drew attention to them. You may if you wish sweep them under some comfortable rug.
