I have a somewhat opposite question re: daytrader status w/IRS. The time savings you mention would be helpful by not having to list all trades but filing on sched C also entitles one to pay self-employment tax of 15%. Could a fulltimer, i.e. not otherwise employed, who wasn't excited about paying this tax get away with NOT filing as a full-time trader? Dave
