Could you briefly explain how the Winmodem ties up the CPU? Last year I upgraded a three year old pentium computer with a 56k x2 winmodem and 40 megs of RAM. This setup will allow connection speeds of 52,000 through AOL and the RAM is used up after 3 or 4 hours of surfing SI. The only problem that has a affective my trading has been the connection with AOL. In the beginning of summer AOL was D.O.A., disconnected all the time, slow connection speed. This cost thousands of dollars! I'm thinking about adding a additional ISP (my children love AOL IM's) and a cable modem will soon be available in this area, any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Doug
