I was referring to CPQ's purchasing habits from INTC. Intel can better predict thier builds based upon CPQ's ordering paterns. 6-10 orders a year are easier to plan for than JIT is....at least for a company like INTC.

In order to support JIT INTC must hold some inventory.. DELL has succeeded in shifting inventory costs from DELL to INTC. Do you think INTC's pricing to DELL is higher or lower than to CPQ? If I'm a sales guy at INTC I tell DELL that we can charge you less so long as you give us more predictability - or even hold some inventory. BUT, if we have to inventory for you then I have to charge you for that.
