Interesting quote from an article by Michael R. Gordon of the New York Times. The article concerns Viktor Chernomyrdin who is Russia's prime minister. He discusses how to save the Russian economy. "In a major address to Russia's upper house of parliament, Chernomyrdin outlined a two-stage plan that would begin with the easiest and most popular step: turning on the money-printing presses so the government could pay workers back wages and prop up ailing banks. Only later would the government impose iron discipline on its tumbling currency by rigidly linking it to gold and hard-currency reserves" BINGO
