Anyway, a few comments while I continue to kick myself in the butt.

Rolling down is somewhat costly in the current environment when one has small positions -- premiums are high all around. If you've got more than 7 or 8X, who cares, right?

Mon I had one position 4X and another about little over 5X. They are October and January expiry. Would you have rolled down both or just the October position? Do you sometimes just hang on expecting a little more when things are going your way?

Do current market conditions enter into your assessment of when to roll down or hang on?
