Jim,
Buying back stocks and awarding employees options to buy is, I agree good for Dell, but only if you buy back more than you use for options. Further factors should include future growth, market conditions, and of course the companies ability to grab a bigger share of the pie. For us the stock holders, we have to decide if we agree or disagree with company managements policies. For myself I'm finding it very difficult to decide whether I agree with the current buy back and option trend. I suppose I would be somewhat more comfortable if management was very slowly becoming a little more conservative, given the current problems with the marketplace, Asia, Russia, and the prez. ect. I suppose some people might interpret a lean toward that type conservative change as Dell was having some sort of problem and panic. Its kind of a "catch 22", no matter what you do it is eventually going to have repercussions. I do have to say that I am relieved that we have had or are in the mist of a correction. I hope in this coming week we see a settling down of the market. Who's to say, we've never had a market like this before and the rules on the game may have changed.
