I find strange that counter arguments are more restricted to chart points rather than actual disuccsions on merits of a move, or actual threat of global deflation.

i do understand your perspective, here.
and i didn't mean to suggest you would advocate
anything less than vigorous debate.
alas, the problem is finding the caliber of debate you describe.
i would offer that finding suitable counter arguments will
be daunting here....to find those so inclined, let alone those who
are your match is a losing proposition. but i know there are some
stellar exceptions to this rule and i have read your dialogue with
a number of worthy adversaries, so all is not lost.
i guess the upshot is that in your experience of SI, you are more often
than not, sparring with bears. i can accept that...it would make sense.
please do not be discouraged by those who offer flimsy excuses
for what they do, though...sometimes, it is the best that they can do.
and i assure you, as always, someone will come along and surprise
you [pleasantly]....<g>
