Germany turns off analogue in 2010....................... inside-cable.co.uk 7th September 1998 GERMANY SETS SWITCH OFF DATE FOR ANALOGUE -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Germany is the first country to set a date for switching off analogue TV transmission. - 2010. The agreement ratified by the national Government with the regional Governments, programmers and manufacturers has set a date far enough away for even German consumer organisations to feel happy that the vast majority viewers will have switched before the deadline. There will be a review in 2003 of the progress of digital TV but it is not envisaged that the final decision will be deferred because the the government is already considering providing convertors for those who have not changed over.
