PARIS, Sept 7 (Reuters) - France's Alcatel said on Monday it has finalized the acquisition of DSC Communications Corp. and said the United States was now its largest telecommunications market with 21 percent of its total telecom sales. Alcatel is combining its U.S. telecom business with DSC into Alcatel USA Inc. and has named Krish Prabhu its president and chief executive officer. Executives from both Alcatel and DSC have been appointed to the top management team. Alcatel USA Inc. will incorporate Alcatel Data Networks activities, as well as its enterprise and consumer solutions for the U.S. market. "The strong position of DSC in access and switching, fixed and mobile, coupled with Alcatel's leadership position in transmission, broadband ATM, xDLS and data technology, creates a major power in the U.S. market," Prabhu was quoted as saying. "The new entity is capable of serving from the smallest local exchange carrier to the largest international long distance carrier, as well as the new breed of entrepreneurial operators," he added. paris.newsroom@reuters.com))
