Doug,

Just heard some fundamental reasoning that backs up your TA on the overall market. Was wondering why Russia and Brazil should matter to us at all given the relatively small sizes of their economies. Russia equal to that of The Netherlands for example. The answer is that many US mutual funds were not only heavily invested in Russia and Brazil, but they were invested with a special type of margin that is reserved for institutions. That is 10 times margin leverage!, as opposed to the normal 2 times leverage. This dropped their net asset values so low after margin calls, it left them with zero cash for even a normal amount of redemptions. The only thing left for these pinheads, was to sell all their winners. This is going to leave a tremendous number of incredible companies selling dirt cheap when this is over.

I think that if you and this thread can figure the best stocks to short right now, then switch back to the long side when the voodoo is at its optimum, we could be holding all 56 meetings on the beach in the Cayman Islands!!! I see this as an opportunity that may never come again in our lifetimes. Maybe then I could give up this aviation gig, and I might be able to try this whole drinking thing!! >>ggg<<
