CS represents the best buy of the bunch and provides the highest return on investment for any acquiring company! Shareholder VALUE and RETURN should rank CS as the number one choice of any of the networkers out there!

I agree with Grady that MRVC at these levels is a steal...probably the second best VALUE of the group. The optical side of the business is the real sleeper!

As for the big boys, I think we should begin to think about the second wave of consolidation that we are just now seeing signs of. The one thing that the Cisco bandwagon fails to account for is the entry of other well healed tech companies into their field. Compaq for instance is positioning itself extremely well across the board! Once they complete their transformation from "box maker" to full service technology provider, I think we will see the beginnings of what I'm coining now as the "superIBM"! Digital, Cabletron, and MRVC under the Compaq brand..."forget about it"!

Speaking of IBM, don't sleep on big blue! They just may surprise the market and scoop up someone like Cisco while the gettin's good! And what about Intel?! They get 80% of their revenues from PC's...sounds like some diversification is in order, don't you think? I've been thinking INTC would aggressively plunge into the networking biz because it's such a natural progression. However, I think the recent investigations of MSFT and INTC, has them in a holding pattern for fear of ruining any anticipated acquisition. If MRVC isn't gone by the time they get their nerve back, INTC most likely will swallow it whole before going after a major player.

This game is going to be interesting to watch and lay bets on! The next 5 years in networking is going to be tremendous! 75% of worldwide networking revenue will be generated in North America alone, so it really doesn't matter much that the rest of the world is going to hell in a hand basket!:-)
