DELL & LatAm economy- No contraction, growth seen, slow but growth nonetheless..

There was a report out today by a U.S brokerage house (Cowen & CO) on LatAm economy in general which confirms your statement the other day that Argentina is still growing etc etc....Since you are in Argentina I will try to summarize what they said starting with Argentina.

Estimated GDP growth rate for 98 and 99.

Argentina
1998-4.5%
1999-3.3%

Brazil
1998-1.4%
1999-1.8%

Chile
1998-4%
1999-3.5%

Peru
1998-5.5%
1999-3%

Colombia
1998-3%
1999-2.8%

Venezuela
1998:(-)00.5%
1999:1%

Mexico
1998-4.6%
1999-3.3%

All have projected positive GDP growth rate with the exception of Venezuela which is projected to contract in 1998 by .5% and then back to positive growth in 1999.

Assuming these projections will be close to reality by the time DELL should do O.K by the time DELL's Brazil plant come on line sometime next year or is it this year???

Anyway see if these estimates are close to what you heard from the local pundits and government sources etc.
