Greenspan's Speech Sets the Stage for a Great Tuesday

Alan Greenspan's Friday evening speech at U.C. Berkeley went over well in markets that have had a chance to react to it.

Led by banks with heavy exposure to Asian and other emerging markets, the major European stock indices gained Monday. London's FTSE rose 180.0, or 3.4%, to 5347.0. The German Dax gained 103.12, or 2.1%, to 4923.37. And the Paris CAC 40 added 2.49, or 0.1%, to 3695.35.

Tokyo stocks ended morning trading sharply higher. The benchmark Nikkei 225 average closed 342.66 points or 2.32 percent
higher at 15,132.72. It was the first time the key indicator had
recovered the 15,000-point level since August 26.

Asian markets got a lift Monday as Hong Kong moved to bolster its
currency by effectively cutting interest rates. Hong Kong stocks were sharply higher on Tuesday morning with the Hang Seng Index rising 171 points, or 2.12 percent, to 8,248 points following firmer Tokyo stocks and a strengthening yen.

U.S.A will follow with a great day Tuesday.
