Hello Yaacov. I took a rest this weekend and did not worry about checking SI or the net. But I did listen to the news. About Russia. I kind of believe that the Russian public would like to have a democratic and capitalistic society. I think the big problem is: They don't know how to do it. I know what you are saying. Same thing holds true for East Germany. It will take them a while to get used to the new system of: You get what you work for and not just go to work and get whatever there is. In Germany they have Western Germany to show them how and it's not working too smoothly there either. But in Russia. A lot of the old leaders are still there and we hear that other elements are taking advantage of this newly created chaos. All the money that has been poured in is going somewhere. The trick is for the Russian people to find a way that money and capitalism will benefit them. The money seems to be finding the wrong pockets. Yes, the old Communists in the DUMA would like to get their importance back . They are very willing to blame the new system for Russia's problems. They sense the down mood of the people and their surfacing feelings that the old system was better for them and those Communists are trying to take advantage of that. Let's hope that their banking problems and empty stores will not threaten a democratic system. You are right, the whole thing is a mess and hard choices are not very easily implemented and Yeltzin is not much of a help at this point.

But at least at this time the Asian markets are staging a comeback and the Globex futures are up nicely.

Pfe, Intel and Msft are still being touted as some of the best companies in their categories. Yes, you can get whip-sawed in daily trading. But if you trade with good stocks you can come out as a winner, even if the market goes against you for a while. Europe did alright today and if the futures hold up, US markets should do well on Tuesday.
