i think what you are talking about is a collar. no experience with it here. i'll look into it.

<< As far as 5 to 10 percent a year. That is easy. My goal is 5 percent a month. >>

easy, big fella! thems is high hopes! if you can do that consistently you can manage my $$$ for a big fee.

<< I hope this helps. Good luck and good trading. I see you made the top 10 in the si stock contest. I was #13, but would be doing better now since I was early on my gold longs. >>

i actually should have been #1, b/c dumbmoney entered the contest a day late. i was robbed!!!! <ggg> btw you and me (and everyone else on si who cares to look at this msg) i got lucky. i felt the market was going down, read a lot of posts on the shorts boards and used their ideas. to bad in real like i stayed long and lost 20+%...

i'm not an active trader. don't have the time or know-how. my long portfolio is mostly annual and longer term stuff. i'm thinking of doing a monthly portfolio in my rollover ira using IBD RS and EPS of Value Line #1 stocks. need some shorts to balance it all out. working on quarterly, mechanical short portfolios. may buy some index puts as well.
